Our current status
Chicago Urban Honor Syndicate has applied to the IRS for recognition as a 501(c)(3) organization. The application was filed on September 21, 2026 and a determination is pending. Until the IRS issues that determination we are not soliciting donations and we make no claim that gifts are tax-deductible.
What we are
Chicago Urban Honor Syndicate is organized for community and neighborhood development. In the IRS classification system that work falls under S20 — Community & Neighborhood Development.
What is not on this page yet
We have not published a list of programs. Our exemption application describes the activities this organization intends to carry out, and we would rather this site say nothing about programs than say something that does not match that filing word for word. When the determination lands, the activities will be described here in the same terms the IRS received.
We are also not asking anyone for money. Soliciting gifts while a determination is pending would invite a visitor to assume a deduction we cannot yet promise.
A name you may have seen elsewhere
A separately incorporated for-profit company shares our name and operates at chicagouhs.com. It is a distinct legal entity with its own registration, finances and records. Work described there is not work of this organization.
